Product Description

Rain Bird T22-250S Drip Irrigation 1/4" Blank Distribution Tubing, 250' Roll, Black. Versatile 1/4" blank distribution tubing may be used as the main line in a small Drip irrigation system or to branch off from 1/2" Drip tubing to individual micro- watering devices and plants. Rain Bird’s 1/4" distribution tubing is the strongest and most flexible tubing available; constructed of UV-resistant polyethylene resin materials giving it the flexibility of vinyl with the hold of poly. Unique Micro-Porous design creates an ultra-tight connection; tubing expands over fittings then shrinks making it almost impossible to remove without cutting. Textured finish improves handling to make connections faster and easier. Compact coiling method allows tubing to remain coiled as its extracted; making it easy to use, store and eliminates waste. Tubing is easy to unroll and stake in gardens, flower beds, ground cover or other landscaped areas. Industry leading flexibility allows tighter turns with fewer elbows for fast, easy installation. Perfect for small, narrow and tight planting areas, as well as areas with tight curves or many switchbacks. Professional-grade for unmatched resistance to chemicals, algae growth and UV damage. Designed for underground or above-ground installation. Rain Bird 1/4" Tubing is commonly used with Spot Watering Emitters, Micro-Bubblers, Misters and Sprays; also to run water to 1/4” Emitter Tubing (from 1/2” distribution or emitter tubing and a wide variety of Drip manifolds).70 psi pressure rating exceeds competitor’s specifications. Compatible with most brands of 1/4” barbed Drip fittings and micro-watering devices. High-quality Rain Bird fittings (sold separately) are available in coupling, elbow, tee, plug and valve models; plus stakes in plastic and galvanized versions. Specifications: black; 0.25" outside diameter, inside diameter 0.17", wall thickness .04". Operating pressure: 0 to 70 psi. Fantastic drip irrigation tubing
5 Stars
Fantastic drip irrigation tubing
We bought a new house and the backyard sprinkler system was broken beyond repair. Even with professional help, I was unable to locate the sprinkler valves for the back yard. So instead I set out to research and install my own drip irrigation to automate the watering process, mostly because I am way too lazy to water my backyard every other day. I chose the rainbird family of products because of the positive reviews and the plethora of options.I chose drip emitters for the trees and shrubs in my yard. I chose 1/2 in tubing for the systems backbone. Then this 1/4 in tubing to run out to the individual plants, flowers, trees, shrubs... There are two ways you can install the emitters. You can install them straight into the 1/2 in tubing, like I did. The other way is to install a 1/4 in coupler into the 1/2 in tubing, then run a 1/4 tube to the plant. Then connect the drip emitter at that end. I chose this configuration because some people complain about the water pressure pushing the emitter off the end of the tubing.+ Great price for this 1/4 in tubing. I knew this would be more than enough for my whole project.+ Very easy to cut and push onto the fittings. No special tools needed.+ Very happy with the performance so far.- Nothing thus far.I am very happy with the performance of this tubing so far. Some people have complained about them getting fouled with dirt. I don't expect to have that issue as I used the Rainbird stakes to keep the ends of the tubing off the ground. Ill update this review as necessary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Purpose specific tubing.
Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2015
I usually use scientific tubing, the generic clear stuff, because I never knew anything different until I wanted something stiffer. The generic clear tubing is awesome for low pressures and drip watering a lot of plants because the emitters can be placed without the tubing trying to retain its shape too much and moving it after placement. This is where the Rain Bird tubing fails at, its stiff and hard, its not easily placed at the base of plants. However I favor this tubing because of its rigid factor. The Rain Bird tubing is far superior with spray emitters and higher pressures. With higher pressures, emitters will come flying off of the scientific tubing if they aren't super glued on there. The Rain Bird tubing holds them in place but this is also an issue because it holds them too well and I have to cut the emitters off for cleaning or changing types! However, this tubing is durable, rigid, etc, it stays upright when I mount it on cane poll while scientific/chemical tubing droops over.

RainBird Pros*
*Rigid and retains shape
*Retains emitters
*250Ft for a fair price!

Cons*
*Emitters have to be cut off! :(
*Very stiff!

Scientific Tubing pros*
*May or may not be cheaper depending on where you shop.
*Very pliable.
*removable emitters

Cons*
*Emitters blow off from high pressures!
*Droops over when mounted vertically.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tough but not stiff.
Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2017
I finished most of my R/O drip irrigation system before summer and it's working out great. The line is easy to work with and goes where I want it to, the fittings are tight and I'm getting two jobs done for the price of one.

As you know I'm lazy, and the work never ends around here...so if there's an easy way to do something I'm all in. Not to mention that in California it's probably illegal to waste so much water, I don't know, but generally for every gallon of R/O you produce 3 gallons of "waste" that goes down the drain. I got a portable unit that stays outside and was draining into tubs. Hauling it by buckets to the plants got old real quick, however.

The emitters, tees, and various fittings are easy to connect. They fit tight, as they should, but can be difficult to remove without pliers. It's easier to just cut it off and then remove the piece of hose..

The plants are thriving, btw.
