This story concerns a girl who has made a terrible mistake and gets a chance to do something about it. Maybe. But it also explores a young girl's family life as a godling under the sea, her secret friend and adventures on land, and how she loses all of it to become a handmaiden to the fates. It's a very rich story that shows a lot of understanding of the anxieties and strange feelings one has growing up, even if one is an underwater sea person. It also shows a young woman able to look at herself and understand how she got where she is, and whether she has the strength to do something about it. This should appeal to girls who are fans of Rick Riordan or otherwise entranced by the lives of the gods of ancient Greece. The author does a delightful job of showing an imaginary, ancient world beneath the Mediterranean, as well as life among the Celts and the frozen Northlands.

Engaging.. and enrapturing

FYI... I am reviewing a book that I was given a free copy of, and that you are doing so voluntarily. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love mythology and this really gave it a twist and kept me totally entertained. I did not want to put it down.. Instead, I stayed up late to find out what happened next. This book was very strong story that shows a young girl (mermaid) and how she navigates life, mistakes and opportunities. If you love mythology, this book is a must.

I was given this book free to read and review. What would you do to change the fate of the one you love? That is the underlying essence of this book. I liked this book because it made the ancient story of the Fates easier for the modern reader to understand and appreciate. I liked that the author made these mythical characters feel so real and human even though most of these characters are not human at all. I really liked that the story showed the different levels of love and how far someone is willing to go for true love. If you like stories about Greek myths I think you will like this book.
