This was a scary purchase, I had no idea if this system was going to throw out enough sound, but I’m just starting out so I was trying to find the best option within my budget. I spent days researching wattage which actually left me more confused and I compared a lot of systems and read tons of reviews. There’s always those one or two bad reviews that make me nervous.
After purchasing this and using it at my first wedding/reception, my fears are relieved. I have a lot of good things to say about it!
You’re most likely reading this review because you want to know if this system can put out enough volume for the dance party. I had it set up at one end of a 500 square foot building. I set the proreck amp (on the back of the powered sub) at 50% volume for the L/R channels and master. I set my mixer’s master volume at unity and the mp3 channel at 65%. I felt like this was really loud, an ideal volume for the venue. One couple walked up and asked if I could crank it more. I was surprised, but ok. I put the mp3 channel up to 75% and the meter was solid yellow, close to redlining so I backed it off a little. I turned the speaker amp to 75% and it also was solid yellow but not redlining. This was crazy loud, I noticed a couple of the older guests walked out, which may have been from the volume, so I backed it off a bit. I let the guests know it’s louder at the end of the room where the speakers are. Everyone danced and seemed to have a great time, and I could definitely feel the bass, so yes, this system is loud enough for a small to medium size wedding. Just know you’re not going to rock a stadium!
The ceremony was outside and I only had to use about 40% of the system’s max volume for the processional music and officiant mic. You would be just fine doing a ceremony with 500 guests.
In summary, if you turn this system all the way up and stand within 30 feet of it facing you, you will at least come very close to causing permanent hearing damage! It’s more than enough for a speaker on a microphone and just enough to deafen the dancing crowd, assuming your speakers are close to the dance floor.
Eventually I’m going to want to do bigger gigs and I think augmenting this with two powered 15” powered pa speakers will be enough to rock a 500 guest dance party.
Regarding setup, the initial setup was tedious because you have to screw all the array speakers to the mounts. The array mounts are separate from the poles so I’m leaving the arrays assembled. They transport that way well, and they’re a good size to carry one handed. The subs have wonderful carry handles and are heavy enough to make me feel like they have substance but light enough that I don’t mind carrying them around. The mounting poles are fine, no complaints.
The Bluetooth works just fine, but the device needs to stay close, like 20 feet, to be reliable. What I loved about the Bluetooth is that after the reception was over, I could play some light tunes from my phone on the speakers while I tore down my desk and mixer. It’s convenient only having to run power to one of the subs. All the cables to connect the other sub and both arrays are included.
Speaking of the arrays, here’s actually my favorite thing about this system. The audio is really clear and crisp. Instead of those all in one full range 12 or 15” speakers, this setup lets the subs handle just the low frequency and the arrays handle the high end, so they cover the whole audio spectrum really well. I received unsolicited comments from two different people on how clear the sound is.
In summary, yes, this really is a great system, coming from an actual audio professional. The bad reviews are people who got unlucky with a manufacturing defect or just don’t know how to gain stage.
I wanted a system for parties at our clubhouse, Usually there's 50-100 people. I looked at several other systems by known companies, but when I saw the double subwoofers on this system, I was impressed. But it was $100 or more below the big guys!
It came today, and just wow. First, quality. It's a heavy system and comes in three big boxes. Everything was well packed, the fit and finish on all of the pieces was perfect. As a bonus, the manufacturer includes extra screws and other pieces. All in all, a real quality job.
The amp is plenty loud enough for the parties. Any louder and it would be uncomfortable. But what got me was sound quality. Sure, there's two subs, which really pump out the bass, but the sparkle of this system is the tweeters. As you can see from the pictures, it has an array of eight tweeters pointing mostly upward. This gives excellent sound dispersion and just a superb image. You don't have ear-bleeding hot spots like most PA speakers, and since it's directed upwards it's spreads well.
Two more things to mention. There's a built in graphic EQ, a great feature most systems don't have, and there's a 'depth' feature similar to a short echo, that adds to the plushness of the music. I didn't think I would use it, but once I heard it, I like it.
It's the best value in PA systems out there. You'll be blown away too.
6/14/2023 update: Still loving the speakers, seems like I am missing a little of the bass guitar in the mix, drums sound fine. So I'm trying a different bass speaker made by SAAT, it's only rated at 200 watts rms. So we will see what the difference is between the two. I was thinking maybe I could run the sub amps at 4 ohms, but I see it says 8 ohms. The Array speakers can go either 4/8 ohms. So it could be they are running an mono amp in 4 ohms mode with two 8 ohms speakers hooked up. The would seem to make since, so I would never try to swap out the 12 inch bass speakers with 4 ohms ones unless you take to PRORECK and get an OK that it can go lower ohms and be stable. So I will update when I know how the SAAT speakers sound compared to the large subs I put in. The main thing is to get a speaker that will have a lot of out put but sound really good on low end with no mud. That's my goal. So stay tuned and I will find the perfect replacement woofer speakers.
