Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I feel sorry for the seller. I thought this product was the 3rd party item since the different name of the product but the seller sent me the proof which tells this is from actual LAOWA company very kindly. So I decided to take some testshots for the review. And I was actually surprised because of the results. The battery consumes a lot but since I have a chargerable batteries, I have no problem at all. I wanted to get refunded but I’ve changed my mind. I am going to keep this.

Only had this flash for 2 weeks but it appears to do everything I need it to do. I like the long articulated arms because it allows you to place the flash heads in just about any position you like, even backlighting in some cases. After reading some reviews before I bought it, I make sure I isolate the point of attachment of the arms to the flash head whenever I am positioning the arm. Power is ok and it is easy to use. Enjoy!!
This is really good for macro photography. But I would recommend being careful on how to bend the lights or else a socket might pop. Also if you do buy it...it is recommended to buy it from the original manufacturer. It should have a 2 year warranty at least...1 year is too short.

The first of these that I bought had a non-working flash head. I returned it, and got a 2nd one. It has been used heavily over the past two summers, and has been very reliable. I think there is a design flaw in how the base of the arms attach to the body of the flash. It would be too easy to break there. So I advise people to be very careful to not let the arms flex at the base. UPDATE: Here it is in 2023 and still going strong! I have used it heavily, over the summers, especially, and it works all the time. Every time.
I use this both for general macro work (on plants) and for imaging pressed plant specimens in a herbarium. It worked excellently for both tasks, and being able to purchase it quickly over Amazon got me out of a jam. My one complaint is that it isn't water resistant, but hey, you can't have everything. Nice job Laowa!
Because of Thomas Shahans review and the use of Laowa 15mm f4 Wide Angle Macro lens i absolutly wanted this flash light.
At first its perfect. It fits all situations well. The qualitiy doesnt feel like its worth 350 Euro. It looks pretty much like a Yongnuo flash pilot.
The biggest and only technical problem is that my rechargeable batteries keep dying. That only happens if i let them in the flash device over night. After that they are useless. (Tested with 12 rechargeabel batteries so far)
This needs to be fixed. Dont buy it unless you can live with above mentioned workaround. So for now: 1 Star. Nothing more.
If you are from Laowa/Kuangren, please let me know how we can solve this problem.
31.08.2019 Edit: The Laowa support didnt answer my complaint until now.
