For those with invertebrates: My amanos, nerites, and bamboo shrimp do just fine dosing this, the original version of Thrive. I do my 25-30% water changes about every other week. I do dose more than the amount recommended for low tech setups, but I also spread the dosage out over 4 days instead of dosing all at once. My tanks are heavily planted riparium style with both emergent and submerged growth, quick growing vals, swords, crypts, and out of control floaters. They are understocked critter wise and I have a hard time keeping even my nitrates above zero. Your mileage may vary, of course.
If your tank is lightly planted with mostly slow growers like anubias, mosses, and java fern, my schedule is not going to work for you. Everybody’s tanks are different, so you need to use your best judgement and figure out what works best in your tank. I can only share what works for me in my situation. :) In my opinion though, as long as you have an etablished, adequate sized, and healthy growing plant mass, and keep up on your water changes, I don’t forsee a problem with the low dose of copper in this fertilizer harming invertebrates.
NilocG Aquatics also makes a shrimp specific fertilizer, Thrive S, for those that are still worried. I have used that one in the past for the greater part of a year and it works pretty darned well. I would think it might work especially well for overstocked tanks where one might have a problem with nitrates building up (it adds a lower level of N with each dose).
I don't use the full dose. I have a 75gallon and use 5 pumps 2x weekly(once after water change, once a few days later). This will bump your nitrates up quite a bit. I was running at 10ppm pre thrive, now I run about 40ppm. Fish don't seem to mind though. I have to stay on top of my water changes a lot more after starting this, but it's worth it.
That said, as a novice to planted aquariums, I made a huge mistake. I had forgotten to add the fertilizer for awhile and put a pump in my betta aquarium before leaving town for two days. I had added a pleco a week before and wow does he poop! Also had an almond leaf that needed removed, but figured could deal with detritus and water change when I got back. My water parameters had been fine the week before.
Boy was I wrong.
My betta had dropsy when I returned and when I tested nitrates, they were at toxic levels. I am treating him, but do not expect him to survive.
So please people, be careful with this, and any other fertilizer. After this tragic lesson, I plan on testing my nitrates every time I add fertilizer, and recommend everyone else to do the same. It only takes couple minutes and is totally worth the effort.
I did a bad job of staying on a schedule for ferts, and the cost and complexity of individually dosing my ferts... Just became complex leaving me to not want to do it. This is way simpler.
For those concerned with nitrates, I think they may be new to the idea of planted tanks. Under no circumstances should you have minimal/no nitrates in your planted tank (remember, this isn't a fish tank).
Believe it or not, one of the biggest issues in planted tanks is not having enough macro nutrients such as nitrate. I had to dose nitrogen in my tanks or I would literally not have enough causing a deficiency and a mess of other problems.
This is not really a product suitable for the tank that has a couple crypts/stems or something and is primarily a fish tank... or worse, overstocked.
However, for those of you where the plants are heavy (with or without co2), and then fish are added conservatively, this product will be great for you.

Using this product in 3 planted tanks. 120gallon, 90 gallon, 45 gallon. I used to used seachem products. It was okay but you had to do a lot of testing and dose nitrogen and phosphorus on top of comprehensive because comprehensive is week. It’s expensive and I went away from it because it takes a lot of time. Great results though. I went to comprehensive alon and it garbage.
Let’s talk about this product. It is potent. Tested tanks before adding and all 3 tanks we 0 ppm nitrate. I added this product as per directions since I was at 0ppm. A day later I tested the water and there was a slight increase in nitrates but not what I had hoped for. So initially I wasn’t impressed with the products. Couple of days later nitrates easily over 10ppm but safe. Fast forward, do my next water change. Wait two days test water before adding and bam already at slightly over 10ppm nitrate. I couldn’t imagine what happens to users that don’t test and add this product blindly.
Test water. Use caution. This product is potent and works really well at providing results in your planted tank.
I would also suggest ignoring the instructions on the bottle and instead dose using a digital TDS meter. Reason being the bottle's instructions give a heavy dose which I found results in high nitrates that can stunt plant growth and cause issues with green dust algae.
What I'd suggest instead is to measure your tap water with a TDS meter and dose ferts daily to maintain your tank at a TDS that's about 20-40ppm higher than your tap water. Ensure you do a minimum 50% water change weekly to keep nurtrient levels stable long-term.
In my case, my tap water's TDS is 165ppm, at the start of the week my tank's TDS is 185ppm, at the end of the week, tanks TDS is around 205ppm. Then at the end of the week, I do a ~50% water change to bring the TDS back down to 185ppm.
To maintain these levels on my heavily planted medium-high light 60 gallon tank, I dose about 2ml daily which is comparable to the bottle's low-medium light dose.
