As far as the story itself - yes, occasionally it takes some suspension of disbelief and overlooking of details that have been left out, but it's full of story that grips you and might sometimes ruin you emotionally. There were tears in my eyes and pulls on my heartstrings at several different points throughout this game. It forces you to make heartbreaking decisions. It forces you to consider every consequence that might come about from a decision. It's so much more than a game about angsty teenage hipsters, and it will surprise you. It is terribly interesting.
There are a couple small disappointments I had by the end (coming in with no knowledge of or expectations for this game), and I will mention them below the break, but they might spoil things if you haven't played (I will use no names, but it might still spoil when you play, so only read if you don't care). However, it was still an excellent game and I would WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend it. I just wish more games like this existed. I love the style. You won't regret playing it.

So I still don't want to name names and give true spoilers in a review, because I don't want anyone to miss out on the experience of the game itself.
What I will say is that there were two things that were somewhat of a disappointment to me (besides the whole fact that the powers were never actually explained, nor a few other perplexing details).
First, the ending. Now, I've only played through one of the two endings (it seemed like there were just two final options anyway) - but they both seemed like they'd be equally depressing. Let's just say I went with the lesser of two evils. Sure, it's somewhat poetic, and I like sadness in my endings as much as the next person... but I wish they had at least shown a little more of the positive parts of the conclusion, rather than glancing over them. I'm left to kind of just assume the other things that went right from a few images, without the satisfaction of getting to actually see any of them play out in cutscene or play through them at all. That would've been the least they could do to compensate for the sheer depressing nature of the main tragic aspect of the conclusion - just give me a few extra minutes, a few more lines, a few more scenes of the less depressing stuff to counterbalance the main part of the ending. I think it would have added meat to the driving point that no matter the decision, there may be good as well as terrible consequences.
Second - and this is a little more spoiling, because you'll easily deduce who I'm referring to before you reach the ending of the game - I'm disappointed that the player isn't even given the option to actually "suspect" the true evil character. The heroine never even looks into this person or treats them with any suspicion, never even asks the questions - even though I strongly suspected this person probably by the third episode. Even when she should have begun to obviously at least consider this person in passing - you're just left to play dumb along with her. Granted, it's fairly clever, but it's not necessarily a great mystery experience for the player when you're not able to actually solve it before it's too late to do so.
Ultimately, these things didn't detract from the awesomeness of the game as a whole. 5 stars from me.

A young woman, destined to destroy or save her idyllic town, must face chaotic choices on her path toward either fate, with the help of her friends - and sometimes her enemies.
Episode 1 of 5 Review
Provided as a FREE demo in the PlayStation Store, this opening chapter effectively draws the viewer (player) into the main heroine's world, where everything is immediately beautiful, breathtaking to behold, and startlingly suspect - that goes for both scenery AND cast. The replay value is instant, as choices are at once susceptible to change, though curiosity might force the player to choose the unthinkable for narrative effect, as bad choices made do not hinder one's ability to move forward in the game. In other words, you let someone die and think the game might give you a second chance to go back and do it the other as to progress? No. You're progressing without the one you killed - unless you use your rewind power in time to have another crack at the action / drama. This "pilot episode" was what got me on Amazon to buy the whole game.
Episode 2 of 5 Review
After buying the complete game on Amazon, I was worried that the progress I had made in the downloaded demo wouldn't transfer over to the game disc. But it was no problem. As soon as I began the game from the game disc, the save data from the demo was transferred over to the game disc and I was allowed to continue. In this week's episode, the writer/director does exactly what they did in the previous one: every beat of the story is similar, especially the ending. And this made me super stoked, as I really enjoyed the pace of the first episode. How they kept it fresh and intriguing is a testament to how great and powerful the overall arching story is. The action is upped - and along with it, the emotion, which is freaking gut-wrenching. There are lives to be saved, desperate choices to be made, puzzles to be solved - but Max's power keeps it all unique and interesting throughout. Or shall I say POWERS? Too awesome!
Episode 3 of 5 Review
Like traditional television shows, "Life is Strange" suffers from a sudden "episode three change of pace", usually due to a different director/writer taking over for the ones that had handled the first two episodes. However, unlike traditional television shows, in the third episode of "Life is Strange", the suffering is mercifully sporadic and does not linger or last throughout. Main protagonist Max's powers grow, branching out both uniquely and uber-creatively, and in a world full of tired time travel stories, this isn't a bad thing. The stakes are upped too, and so is the emotion - and with both, the story goes in surprising directions, all of which you have chosen. (At each open-mouthed moment, the player will no doubt wonder "What if?!" ... What if I hadn't saved this person? What if I hadn't behaved in that way?) This might be the only game where you'll WANT to figure out the puzzles on your own, as you won't want someone online making your decisions for you. The ending of this episode was VERY sad... but VERY satisfying. Mouth open, eyes wide. What if I had chosen differently???

MRP is 1299...But I got it for 870..
Awesome choice making game totally worth it..
The game is short but it has great replay value due to your choices impacting how the story progresses. You can pick which of the chapters you want to replay. If you enjoy games with good stories then this is for you.
