Look: Definitely beefs the camera up a bit. I have a lot more area to grip onto, which is nice.
Feel: There have been a few reviews that have talked about the plastic being cheaper. Well...I paid roughly $27 for this. I was not expecting NASA grade materials. What I got was well built piece. It feels solid.
Door: Easy flip open and locking door. The battery door for my camera easily fit into the slot provided. I saw one review that mentioned the door being loose. It's not air tight, but it's shut quite well.
Shutter button: Works like a charm! It does suck that the cover for my camera has to stay open, but I knew this coming in. Thinking about purchasing a new cover (for the camera) and simply cutting away the top part. This would allow me to keep the battery pack plugged into my camera (which you need to do to enable the shutter button) while keeping the rest of the ports covered. I will be looking for a cover today to test this out. Thinking it should work awesome.
All in all, I love it. Being that Nikon doesn't have a battery pack for this model, this is one of very few choices you have. Plus, I've seen the Nikon ones for their other models. Yeah....they're super nice, but they're also going for about $150+. I'm perfectly cool with the $27 investment from Meike. The only part that sucks is that my camera barely fits into my bag now. ARGH....guess I gotta do some more shopping! If you are looking at this product, purchase with confidence.
*EDIT: Found the cover for the ports. Looked on eBay using this description: NIKON D3100 USB HDMI INTERFACE TERMINAL COVER CAP LID NEW AUTHENTIC PART OEM. Was hoping it would be cheaper, but oh well.
I've used pro grips on pro cameras before and this grip is definitely not pro but neither is the Nikon D3200 on which I have it mounted. That said, for $25, it's great! If this were a Nikon pro grip it'd be several hundred dollars. But there is no Nikon grip for the D3200, pro or consumer. It's actually nice that this grip is lightweight just like the camera. It might feel weird with a professional brick attached to the non-professional D3200 (unlike on a pro camera where a brick bottom might feel normal.)
Anyway, I had no trouble mounting the grip to the camera - it fits seamlessly. Yes I had to take the battery door off the camera but this is easy to do (pull it out at an angle.) The now-removed door doesn't fit inside the grip cavity as documented in the grip's instructions, but, whatever. I keep the removed door stored inside the zipper of my camera bag.
Combined with the Wasabi Power Battery (2-Pack) and Charger for Nikon EN-EL14 compatible with Nikon Coolpix P7000, P7100, P7700, D3100, D3200, D5100, D5200 of which I use to power the grip (it uses two batteries) I now have double the power and better handling on the D3200. Also, the additional shutter on the grip works great and the little cable doesn't get in the way or bother me.
All and all I'd say if you have a Nikon D3200 (or, I'm guessing the D3100) go for it. This is clearly the grip to get for that camera.

Pros:
- Effectively doubles shooting time
- Makes holding the camera much more comfortable
- Vertical shutter button is incredibly useful and I take about 15 or 20 times as many verticals as I did originally
- Grip is aesthetically compatible to the camera, and (though it's a little silly to care, even though I know I sometimes can't help it) IMO, it makes the D3200 look a lot more like a pro body like a D3 or D700.
- Easy to connect to the camera, and has an awesome little slot to keep the battery door in (you have to take it off to connect the grip)
Cons:
- Not super durable construction (though I've had exactly 0 problems with mine as far as breakages or scuffs, and if you're careful and don't shoot inside a rock tumbler you should be fine too)
- Have to keep the cameras input slot door open to utilize the vertical shutter, which sucks because it exposes the internal components to whatever elements you're shooting in
- Difficult to tell how much battery life is left, as the camera display seems to read the batteries as full until they're almost dead... then it drops to blinking for a few before they die completely. As far as I can tell, that doesn't effect the amount of shooting I can do... it's just inconvenient when shooting a wedding or event.
Overall, I love this grip, and it's never off my camera. While I wouldn't use it if I were a full time professional, I do use it for wedding gigs and some portrait work, and it works very very well. I'm not too bummed about the minor quality issues/other little annoyances because I don't want to spend a ton on a grip for a camera body that costs less than 650 dollars (with two kit lenses, no less!). I would 100% recommend this to anyone who would like to extend their shooting time in the field as well as add a vertical shutter to their camera.
Top reviews from other countries
It fitted on perfectly, looks great & gives the camera almost a professional look about it. It is surprisingly light in weight so when carrying your camera around your neck all day it doesn't cause any bother or discomfort.
Once attached it also seems to give camera a better fit in my camera bag, so less likely to move around even with dividers in place.
I've only spent 2 days out with it so far & it has performed excellently, both instances the weather was wet & dreary but when finished just wiped it all over with a dry cloth & no problems it seems with the damp (although its stated as not waterproof).
So far the battery indicator on the camera hasn't dropped 1 notch yet, & on my 2 days of shooting took near in the region of 600 shots so am hoping the power from the two batteries fitted will last some considerable time before a recharge is necessary.
Overall so far am very impressed & would recommend this very useful bit of kit for a very reasonable sum of money.
If you do regular spells of photography & plan on do a great number of shots in a day, you'll have peace of mind that you will have plenty of power to get you through your shoot & also keep your batteries all in one place rather than tucked in a pocket in your camera bag, & not have to worry about loss of power for maybe an all important or amazing shot or photo.
