Product Description

Product Description

The 48-22-1901 Fastback quick-release utility knife from Milwaukee is the type of tool that you can effectively use wherever you are, at any time of day. Whether you’re in construction, work outdoors, or just need a tool for slicing rope or tape in your day-to-day life, this is for you. Its robust, all metal design will hold up to drops from a variety of heights, not that dropping it is likely. An ergonomic handle conforms to most hands, making grip easy. On top of that, when it’s not in use you can keep it stored snugly on your belt or pants with the bolted-on wire clip. This thin metal will clasp firmly to whatever thin fabrics are on your person without damaging them. Speaking of wires, there are a couple handy functions that this knife can perform thanks to some unique design features. For one, the back of the handle can act as a gut hook. When the knife is closed, you can loop string, twine, or wire through the knife to make quick cuts. When the knife is open, there is a notch near the base of the blade release system that allows you to strip up to 10 gauge wire. When doing electrical work, packing, moving, construction, renovation, or any other general contracting, having this handy blade from Milwaukee is a must.

From the Manufacturer

Designed to activate the blade 3X faster than a 2-handed opening knife, the Fastback Utility Knife features a one handed blade opening for easy activation. A tool free blade change offers less down time in the field, while a thin body design allows the user to easily store the knife in their pocket. An integrated gut hook and wire stripper also increase utility.

As you can see I have two different styles of the Milwaukee fastback utility knife. How much for the larger 6 inch with the wire stripper that I purchased from Amazon. The other was purchased from a local big box home improvement store and I think was only a dollar less. The first thing I like about this fastback compared to the other one is that the body is made of aluminum. It’s going to last much longer time compared to the plastic that I had bought from the box store. I also really like what they call the wire stripper it’s basically just a cordage cutter. I never really thought I would use it but I find myself almost using that cordage knife more than the actual utility knife fully open. I also particularly like the belt clip on this it’s very long there’s no worry about it coming out of your pocket if that is the way you’re carrying it. I typically have it clipped on a work belt or the outside of a yeti bucket. The smaller fast back in the video and in the photos have a very small bill clip it’s much tighter but it’s actually very uncomfortable and hard to get on and off of anything. Boces fastbacks are a red color which I highly suggest it’s very easy to miss place or utility knife and leave it at the job site her friends house or just outside to rust. Thread color makes the utility knife very easy to pick up. Overall I always say buy nicer by twice I would spend a few extra dollars on the Milwaukee Bbra I would also get this larger 6 inch with the wire cutter.I hope this review and photos are helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars 6 years and still going!
Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2016
I purchased the milwaukee fastback in 2010 for use at work, it appealed to me because of it's opening action and it looked ergonomic. Over the years I have used it 5-6 days a week without fail as part of my job. Working in a pharmaceutical warehouse it is used on cardboard of all thicknesses some like particle board, plastic wrapping and compression straps, this blade never rests it gets worked hard, it has been dropped countless times on concrete, it has served me well from day one and never missed a beat, it fits comfortably in the hand, weighty, solid and well balanced. The action has held up perfectly over time with little signs of wear on the locking mechanism, the screws only had to be tightened once about 5 years in on the pocket clip and the sides of the blade housing, with the screws on the blade housing you could feel them interfere with the opening and closing action as they came loose and it gave warning they needed tightening before they completely came out. I can't say enough good things about this knife, it gets the attention of anyone that sees you use it and everyone that uses it comments on how comfortable it is in the hand. If this thing ever broke, which it shows no signs of doing I would just buy another. For the money I don't think you could buy another utility knife as durable and long lasting as the milwaukee fastback, get it, use it, rest in the knowledge you made a good purchase.
