    A word about dimensions
It's a bit silly how hard it is to get information about the height of this stand.19 inches - folded storage length19.3 inches - minimum height72 inches - fully extended risers, with the legs splayed out at maximum 39" diameter circle, meaning parallel to and lying on the ground for greatest stability.84 inches - fully extended risers, with the legs at roughly 45 degree angle with the ground, 26" diameter circle, usable with care (flash with umbrella hovering over one of the legs, no wind)89 inches - absolute maximum height with legs set at minimum splay 14" diameter circle, extremely unstable and inadvisable, but will hold a flash indoors if no perturbationsSo in summary, maximum usable height about 7 feet, maximum height with maximum stability 6 feet. The five riser sections are well constructed and unexpectedly sturdy. The weakness is in the folding legs. They are not circular, but rather flat sections roughly 19" long, 9/16" wide, and 3/16" thick. Due to the small thickness and location of the rivets close to one end of the legs, this becomes a design for a tuning fork. The stand wobbles easily and is highly susceptible to torsion. It does no good to have a strong body (riser sections) and weak legs. Manfrotto should have allocated more of the weight/size budget to the legs, even at the expense of the body. Users typically have problems with stands wobbling and falling over, not with riser sections fracturing or buckling from stress. They flubbed the design. It wouldn't have killed Manfrotto to include a cheap nylon bag for something meant for compact portability.
