All Metal Adapters in a Variety of Sizes

Like all Fotodiox premium adapters, the macro reverse mount adapter is completely made from aluminum and coated with an anodized layer. The macro reverse mount adapter provides a solid, smooth fit both on camera and lens filter threads.

The Fotodiox macro reverse adapters come in a variety of sizes ranging from 49mm to 77mm. Any lens with a filter thread in those sizes can be reverse mounted for extreme macro closeup, all without the need of a dedicated macro lens.

Reverse Mounting for Extreme Closeups

Explore new worlds by using the Fotodiox macro reverse mount adapter to enable the hidden macro properties of lenses. Reverse mounting is a simple and inexpensive way to get started with macro photography.

Whether you're mounting native lenses or even vintage glass, reverse mounting allows you to focus closer to a subject. The wider the focal length the closer you will be able to focus.

The Easiest Way to do Macro Photography

Simply select the right size for your lens and begin shooting extreme closeups with your Canon camera. Installing is as simple as putting a filter over your lens and then mounting the setup onto your camera.

There are no optics in the adapter which means all the detail is preserved from the lens. This is an affordable way to turn your existing lenses into inexpensive macro lenses.

Product Description

Satisfy your curiosity on macro photography with the Fotodiox all metal macro reverse adapter. The adapter allows you to mount a lens by its filter threads to your camera. By doing this you change the property of the lens so that it is macro focus only.

Compatible Canon EOS (EF, EF-S) Mount Cameras Include:
1d/1ds, Mark II, III, IV, X, C, 5D, 5D Mark II/III, 7D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, 60D, 60Da
Rebel xt, xti, xs, xsi, t1i, T2i, T3, T3i, T4, 300D, 350D, 400D, 450D, 500D, 550D, 1000D

Note
• This is a manual adapter, so lens functions that rely on electronic communication with the camera body (autofocus, AE metering, image stabilization, etc.) will be disrupted.
• 'Focus-By-Wire' lenses (such as Canon's STM or Nikons AF-P) requires power to engage the manual focus rings on the lens, since manual lens mount adapters do not power the lens, those lenses will not be able to focus.
• Set your exposure manually or meter using your camera's Aperture Priority (stop-down) mode.
• If your lens does not have a manual aperture control ring, the lens aperture will revert to its default position, which depending on the lens is either stopped down to its largest f-stop or opened up to its smallest f-stop.

All pictures are for illustration purposes only. Actual product may vary slightly due to ongoing improvements in design.

A useful adapter, with a few issues

A useful adapter, with a few issues
This review is of the "Standard" Nikon F to Canon EOS EF adapter sold by Fotodiox. As with any of these adapters the "automatic" lens features are disabled, and with digital cameras the "35mm equivalent" focal length is increased, by about 50% on the camera I have, due to the image sensor being smaller than a 35mm frame. But it allows Nikon-mount lenses to be used on a Canon EOS camera, and while I confirmed some problems noted in the 1-star reviews, this adapter isn't expensive, and the severity of the problems likely varies between examples. The one I got worked for my purpose, which was to attach a lens I had on hand to test a camera body I found "bin-diving" at a local emporium.I am grateful for the reviews noting the "loose screw" issue with the release lever for the Nikon lens. Checking the screw on my example, it not only allowed the lever to move sideways, but was so loose it would soon fall out no matter how it was adjusted. If it had a non-threaded section near the head it would be possible to tighten it leaving the lever free to move, but the makers of this adapter used an ordinary screw and left it loose. The problem can be corrected with a little lacquer or glue on the threads. To avoid gumming up the mechanism I inserted a dab of epoxy through the "back" side of the threaded hole, then adjusted the loose screw for proper operation of the lever, so the end threads would engage the epoxy. The "too tight" problem is a bigger issue. I had no trouble with the fit to the camera, a Canon EOS Digital Rebel DS6041 (300D), though it was tighter than a "T" mount adapter I tried. But the lens was hard to dismount due to the design of the "springs" on the adapter. These are made by spreading a slot cut into the body material and behave more like "wedges." Aluminum does not make a good spring, and the amount the slots are spread does not seem well controlled. It may be possible to adjust the spread for a given lens, but I have just been tolerating the problem. The tight fit can result in side force on the locking pin making it hard to retract, which complicates removal of the lens. For those not concerned with the higher price, the "Pro" version of the adapter appears to have properly designed springs. On the positive side, the adapter seems to position the lens properly so the numbers on the focus scale are about right. It allows infinity focus with the lenses I tried, and maybe even a little "beyond infinity" to cover tolerances. With some minor rework, and checking that it won't get stuck in the camera, the low-cost "Standard" adapter can be very useful, so I'll give it a 3-star "OK" rating despite the noted problems.

Fit perfectly onto my Canon T2i, and let me use my 50mm f1.9 X-Fujinon.

Fit is solid and wiggle free, close focus distance is correct, and focus to infinity works as far as I can tell.
