Product Description
Here is Kit Carson's M16 Every Day Carry (EDC) with our glass filled nylon InterFrame build in black-on-black tactical dress.
Our knife users told us, "We want an affordable work knife that we can give hard use without feeling guilty, and one that won't break us up if we leave it on a job site or drop it in the river."
We heard you. So we set about to make the Z EDC the best value in the work and sport knife world.
That starts with textured glass filled nylon scales and a dual stainless steel liner InterFrame. Assembled with glass filled nylon back spacers and Torx fasteners, the result is amazingly rigid. Glass filled nylon offers excellent toughness and resistance to solvents. Lubrous washers at the blade pivot and an adjustable pivot screw allow for perfect blade action.
The blade is 8CR15MoV high-carbon stainless steel which gives an ideal combination of toughness and edge-holding ability in a work knife, and also allows easy field-sharpening.
The M16-01KZ uses our popular spear point slim profile blade with a Razor-Sharp edge. It is ideal for fine cutting and carving tasks. It has a black EDP blade, black frame and hardware.
Of course, it features the Carson Flipper, which speeds opening of the blade and acts as a blade guard when the blade is open.
This knife also features automated liner safety. Automated liner safety is the locking liner safety innovation taken to the next level. The automated liner safety sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use.
To close the knife, pull the red buttoned safety lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position. Want one of the most secure safety systems on the market? The choice is automatic.
Add to these features the standard removable stainless steel clothing/gear clip plus the CRKT limited lifetime warranty, and you have one of the truly great knife values of our time.

Customers like the sharpness of the knife. They mention that it comes razor sharp, keeps a nice edge sharpened every so often, and the steel takes a good edge. The knife has a narrow spear-point blade that is useful. Overall, this is a fantastic all-around knife and an excellent little EDC knife.

Customers appreciate the weight of the knife. They mention that it is the lightest they have carried, it's so slim in their pocket that they forget it' s there, and it has a deceivingly hearty weight to it. The nylon bodies also help to distribute the weight over a small body, making it easy to carry. Some say that backpacking with the knife was great due to its lower weight.

Some mention that it's light weight, and easy to open when desired, while others say that it is more difficult to open if you rely on that alone. Customers have mixed opinions about the appearance of the knife. Some say that it looks good, the steel is nice and durable, and it's a great little folder with a good out-of-the-box edge and a decent weight, while others say that the blade quality wasn't all that spectacular, it felt too light and too cheaply made, and that it came so dull that it would take forever to sharpen.
"...The look of it is nice too. Tactical, but not "tacti-cool", you know. The only issues I have with the knife are the liner lock and the thumb stud...." Read more

The good:
Decent blade length at 3+ inches
Slim width from spine to blade edge is only 3/4 of an inch
Weighs in at less than 3oz
The cons:
The blade is 8CR13MoV steel (AUS8 steel model is nearly triple the price)
Teflon bushing means it opens smooth, but with some pressure
Thumb Studs are so short that it's nearly impossible to open using just the thumb studs

I am not a knife expert, so will leave it to others to comment on the technical aspects. From an everyday carry standpoint, I don't even notice I am wearing it. The blade length is sufficient for 'urban' self defense situations and would appear to be strong enough for that application if needed. The blade was extremely sharp right out of the box. The flipper works great and is not too tight nor too loose. Some have expressed concerns about the "sharpness" of the flipper, but the knife I received does not feel sharp at all. The thumb stud could be a little taller, as it is more difficult to open if you rely on that alone. If that is your preferred method, you may want to look around. However, with the flipper being so accessible, not sure why you would even need the thumb stud. The flipper serves as a hand guard when the knife is open and is one of the features I really like on this knife. This knife does NOT have a safety button to keep it locked open. With that being said, when it is open, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't stay that way. With a little practice, you could become proficient at closing with one hand if you wanted to do so. For $20+/-, I can't imagine finding a better quality knife that is so reasonbly priced!

El problema que veo es que ha perdido pronto el filo y no soy capaz de volver a sacarle un filo decente (ésto sólo me ha pasado con algunos cuchillos de cocina baratos).
(parceque le couteaux est neuf je pense).
