Product Description
Here is Kit Carson's M16 Every Day Carry (EDC) with our glass filled nylon InterFrame build in black-on-black tactical dress.
Our knife users told us, "We want an affordable work knife that we can give hard use without feeling guilty, and one that won't break us up if we leave it on a job site or drop it in the river."
We heard you. So we set about to make the Z EDC the best value in the work and sport knife world.
That starts with textured glass filled nylon scales and a dual stainless steel liner InterFrame. Assembled with glass filled nylon back spacers and Torx fasteners, the result is amazingly rigid. Glass filled nylon offers excellent toughness and resistance to solvents. Lubrous washers at the blade pivot and an adjustable pivot screw allow for perfect blade action.
The blade is 8CR15MoV high-carbon stainless steel which gives an ideal combination of toughness and edge-holding ability in a work knife, and also allows easy field-sharpening.
The M16-01KZ uses our popular spear point slim profile blade with a Razor-Sharp edge. It is ideal for fine cutting and carving tasks. It has a black EDP blade, black frame and hardware.
Of course, it features the Carson Flipper, which speeds opening of the blade and acts as a blade guard when the blade is open.
This knife also features automated liner safety. Automated liner safety is the locking liner safety innovation taken to the next level. The automated liner safety sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame. This pin acts as an additional layer of safety, so the locking liner is less likely to disengage during use.
To close the knife, pull the red buttoned safety lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position. Want one of the most secure safety systems on the market? The choice is automatic.
Add to these features the standard removable stainless steel clothing/gear clip plus the CRKT limited lifetime warranty, and you have one of the truly great knife values of our time.

The auto-lawks closing system can take a little getting used to if you have never used it before (just get used to people who want to see your knife or use it never, ever knowing how to close it once it's opened, it can actually be pretty funny watching their confused expressions trying to get the blade close again...) but soon it will be second nature, flicking the blade open with a practiced little twist of the wrist, and then closing it just easy.
It's definitely important to put some locktite (the blue stuff works best) on the little clip screws, because they always loosen and fallout, on every single m16 i've ever had.
Other than that, it really is the perfect every day use knife. Sharp. Good looking. Easily concealable. You just can't go wrong with a CRKT m16.
Tension on all the screws was perfect out of the box. Insanely sharp. Adequate tension to keep it closed safely in your pocket. When open, it feels like the whole thing is made of 1 piece -- really impressively solid. I like the reassurance this provides me as a defensive weapon also, should I ever be so unfortunate to need it.
The only thing that I would deduct for is that the black coating has already worn off a little bit from bumping into my keys etc in my pocket, but only a little bit, and I never expected the black coating to stay perfect forever. I got this to cut stuff, not to look at. But it is still pretty and the marks just make it look like it has more of a story behind it.

El problema que veo es que ha perdido pronto el filo y no soy capaz de volver a sacarle un filo decente (ésto sólo me ha pasado con algunos cuchillos de cocina baratos).
(parceque le couteaux est neuf je pense).
