After going through three coffee makers in ten years and having all of them develop that nasty tangy bitter coffee flavor, no matter how much vinegar we ran through them or how much we scrubbed them I did some significant research. What I found out that the bitter flavor comes from the plastic water reservoir where the water is heated. I know I didn't believe that either but multiple people on several websites claimed those cheep water tank are the cause. If you think about it like I did you will realize that although most dinner or restaurant cups of coffee are not that great, the one thing they have in common is that they don't taste tangy. This is because they use commercial grade equipment to make it that has a stainless water reservoir.
Now knowing what the cause was I commenced searching for an all stainless coffee maker for home use... surprise there are extremely few options and most of them come in coffee makers that skimp on quality to keep the price point low. Bunn the makers of this model in fact have several home versions and almost all of them seem to develop leaks after a few years. So we made the decision to just pay a few extra bucks and get a full blown commercial coffee maker and we haven't looked back.
Some reviews on this maker worry about the fact that it stays on all the time, when you think about it though, a Kureg keeps its water hot all the time too unless you tell it not too and then you'll end up waiting ten minutes to make coffee. What my wife and I did was purchase a home automation switch to go with our Wink hub and programmed a robot to run it on a schedule. The only real reason we had to do this was because the burner can get left on and kill a carafe if you forget.
The bottom line is that in as little as three minutes this thing will have a cup of super smooth coffee ready, not even a Kureg can beat that really, especially when that's 12 cups of coffee, not one. So if you love coffee and like me you bleed dark roast, this maker will not disappoint you.
Downsides are that it doesn't come with any carafe's and the filter basket is plastic. Most reviews agreed that the coffee doesn't spend enough time in the filter basket to develop a taste but we still went ahead and bought the optional stainless filter basket anyway.

The unit is quite loud during the heating cycle but since the noise only lasts several seconds each time it’s not that bad and you get used to it before long so it’s not a big deal.
The reason I’m only giving it 3 stars is because of this:
Sometimes (about once a week to a week and a half) it only brews about half a pot of coffee even though a full pot of water is poured in the top of the unit. The coffee maker is only a few months old and has done this since it was first purchased. I don’t know if it’s due to excessive evaporation or what but the half-pots seem to happen randomly other than being the first pot of the day when it happens. It doesn’t happen often enough that it should dissuade anyone from purchasing this coffee maker but it is frustrating when it happens. Once more water is added to the unit it starts working fine again.
There are a few cons with this coffee maker but I consider them to be minor. Especially since the pros easily outweigh them. It’s a good coffee maker for a small to medium sized workplace where plenty of coffee is a must-have.
