TIPS:
1. ALWAYS use eye protection and some type of gloves as shards may fly!
2. Glass should be cut on a hard surface, BUT, with a towel or thin pad (rubber shelf/drawer pad material works great!) under glass
3. It does NOT take a lot of pressure.. If shards are popping everywhere, you are pressing too hard and will have a jagged edge.
4. After scoring glass, flip it over and press the score line from the back. The pad underneath will allow just enough give to allow the glass to separate without breaking anywhere else - IF DONE CORRECTLY -
5. I found the ball to be too destructive for splitting the cut pieces and only apply a little pressure as this was safer and worked very well for me.
6. Oil the cut wheel axle periodically to keep it rolling smoothly.
I was first exposed to this tool when I was in grad school in chemistry. We would buy large, glass-backed TLC (thin layer chromatography) plates and cut them smaller to actually use. You could get away with scoring pretty lightly when doing TLC plates (and breaking along the score lines with gloved hands) because the glass was thin. In that instance, you pretty much just needed to see the score line in order for this to work.
I have also used this to cut thicker glass at home. Please note that the glass I am cutting is sold for crafts and is not random glass I found around the house (e.g., not in windows or storm doors, etc.). So it is the kind of glass you were actually meant cut with this item. I am also using smaller pieces, usually a couple of inches or less. I am mostly cutting glass to use in jewelry making (like, I will put copper foil tape around the outside and then use a soldering iron over the copper tape) so I am not doing anything large or heavy. This tool is perfect for the small-ish pieces I am cutting.
When you are cutting glass thicker than TLC plates, you need to score pretty hard (you should hear a sound) before trying to break. I also have a pair of running pliers that I sometimes use to help me break along the score. You may have sharp edges on the glass after cutting, so be prepared for that and handle carefully. I have not tried too many rounded edges yet; I actually think it would be difficult to use the little wheel here to score a full circle, and then to punch the circle out, but you can do a partial rounded edge for sure.
Anyway, if you are interested in cutting glass on a small scale for craft or hobby purposes, this is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. It probably helps that I had someone show me how to use it in the lab, back in the day.
I think this would work FINE if you are a more experienced glass cutter though and figure out the grip. Price is certainly right.

If you're cutting glass for a hobby or need a lot of small pieces, you'll probably want some better tools. However if you just need to cut the odd piece every once and a while, this will be good enough.
Product does work according to related YouTube videos I was watching.
